Ben Behunin...Isn't that a wonderful name? Ben is a potter in Salt Lake City, Utah who is also an author. Ben makes some pretty amazing pottery and isn't too bad at weaving a compelling tale.
Blaine and I picked up Ben's first book at Costco. He graciously signed it for us and thus began our journey into Nierderbipp. Neiderbipp is the town time forgot. Nestled in the valleys of Pennsylvania, Neiderbipp is a town replete with interesting characters and small town gossip.
Jake Kimball is a young potter graduating from college who is offered his dream job as the town's potter. Jake is replacing Isaac Aaron Bingham, who died a few months ago. This is ultimately the story of how one man can change the world through kindness, long-suffering, and love.
Isaac was a wonderful man who was a friend to all he met. I loved watching the story unfold as various people from the village come to the pottery to talk to Jake and reminisce about Isaac and the lessons they learned from him.
As I read this book I was reminded that we are all on own own journeys and have no idea where someone else has been or what they have been through.
